Carlos Carmona, Jr.
Founding Partner and Trial Attorney, Carlos Carmona, Jr., was born in Cuba and came to the United States as a toddler. He is a graduate of Miami American Senior High School and the Florida State University.
Carlos’ litigation and trial practice focuses on the handling of complex first and third party claims and fraud investigations. He has handled thousands of court cases filed against insurance carriers as well as their customers, and has taken hundreds of Examinations Under Oath, across a full spectrum of insurance matters. His investigations have aided the insurance industry in identifying fraud and other abuses within claims and in litigation. In some instances, his work on behalf of our clients has shed light on large fraud rings, which have lead to the criminal prosecution of these individuals as well as the filing of affirmative civil actions against these organizations for recovery of ill-gotten benefits paid out on behalf of our clients’ insureds.
Carlos graduated cum laude in 2006 from the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University. In addition to being a member of the Moot Court Honor Society, Carlos was a member of the Nova Law Review’s Executive Board. He was also on the law school’s National Trial Competition Mock Trial Team and was recognized by his professors for his advocacy when they named him to the Order of Barristers, a national organization recognizing excellence and honor in all aspects of advocacy and courtroom presentation.
Carlos started his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County. As a prosecutor, Mr. Carmona prosecuted a wide array of criminal cases, quickly advancing to the Felony Trial Division. By the end of his time at the Broward SAO, he had prosecuted dangerous and violent felons for crimes including attempted murder, attempted sexual battery, armed robbery and firearms charges, as well as drug crimes and property offenses; and had garnered the praise of members of both the Hollywood Police Department and Broward Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab for his trial work.
His experience, both personally and professionally, is what makes Carlos an accomplished and effective advocate for the Firm’s clients and insurance industry as a whole. However, Carlos’ greatest accomplishment is his family. He is married to Gessika Carmona and they have three children.
He has lectured at industry seminars and has routinely used the Firm’s Social Media accounts to publish informative articles and announcements on timely topics facing the insurance industry. He is licensed to practice before all Florida State Courts and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida and is AV Rated Preeminent for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability by Martindale-Hubbell.
